INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR GENETIC ENGINEERING AND BIOTECHNOLOGY - NEW DELHI

Year : 1989-1994

Location: New Delhi

Description:

The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) is a global non-profit organisation dedicated to advanced research and training in molecular biology and biotechnology with special regard to the needs of the developing world. The ICGEB complex in New Delhi adds to its list of high-end facilities in Italy and South Africa that provide a scientific and educational environment for cutting-edge studies. Located in the south-east corner of Jawaharlal Nehru University, this is yet another project that Raj Rewal has designed in the institutional zone overlooking the National Park and Qutb Minar. The undulating site presented a highly technical programme consisting of different laboratories, a bio-experimentation unit, a BSL-3 facility, greenhouses and animal houses for agriculture and mammal-related research along with administration areas, auditoriums, a guesthouse and other utilities.
