Description:

Phase II of the housing is located on the west end of the research laboratories. The site is undulating with natural rock formations. The highest level on the site is utilised as a series of pedestrian courtyards of varying scales around which housing is built on two sloping sides. The programme had called for a scholar’s hostel and about fifty apartments varying from one bedroom to three bedrooms, to be built in a phased manner. The slow pace of development has allowed the housing to be developed in an organic manner to meet the demands of incoming scientists, and the availability of funds.
